There are many myths associated with hypnosis – but it is a self help method that can be very helpful. Hypnosis has become a very successful alternative treatment to help people stop smoking, lose weight, overcome anxiety, phobias, panic attacks and depression. Because of the way it has been portrayed on television, many people have misconceptions about hypnosis . Hypnosis dates back to ancient Egypt and is an accepted medical treatment that has been used for thousands of years. Hypnosis has been approved by The American Medical Association for use in all areas of medicine. Hypnosis is a very safe therapeutic tool which has no side effects and helps you live a balanced life.

Hypnosis is a natural state that we all go into at various times. When in a hypnotic state, your attention focuses on only one area, while closing out other distractions. It is very similar to day dreaming and the state we are in before we fall asleep at night. We are relaxed, but still aware of everything around us. In this state, we can give ourselves suggestions which are sent to our subconscious mind.

Hypnosis is a state of consciousness in which you are relaxed and have very concentrated attention. Brain activity during hypnosis is the same as it is during meditation. With practice you can learn to bring yourself into this hypnotic state. It has been proven that there are numerous health benefits to be gained from being in this state. When you are in hypnosis, you are aware your surroundings, but in a detached way and are more receptive to positive suggestions. Your mind concentrates on the suggestions and doesn’t pay attention to other things.

People expect to feel something special or really different when in hypnosis, even though it is just a normal state of mind. Don’t worry, you cannot be hypnotized against your will or without consent. You go into a hypnotic state by cooperating with the suggestions to concentrate and relax. You are still in charge. Basically, all hypnosis is self hypnosis. You go into hypnosis willingly and with full awareness. The hypnotherapist is an instructor who guides you. When in hypnosis, you will not accept any suggestions that are against your values or ethical principles.

So put aside all of your misconceptions about hypnosis; it is just another tool, like meditation, to help improve your quality of life and development. There are guided hypnosis downloads available for just about any problem. Click below to view the library of available downloads. Try it – I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the results.
